What are we hearing from candidates?
"Thanks for letting me know…" We used to hear a lot more "no's" and silence from candidates. I'm not sure if it's people's New Years resolutions to find a new job or overall sentiment is changing, but we're experiencing quite a higher number of people curious to hear of what's open in the market and thankful to be kept in mind for roles, even if something currently isn't a fit.
What are we hearing from clients?
"Show me the money!" - in this case "money" means good candidates and "show me" means "we'll hire them if you bring them to us." For all we wrote about throughout 2023 of clients' hesitancy to hire, that has seemed to really turn around of late. Companies who need people seem to know what they want and are ready to get the strong people in the door and working ASAP!
What am I feeling about the hiring market?
New Year, New Hope: in general, the largest recruiting firms in America noted significant decreased full-time placement figures in 2023. You would think that would translate to less hopeful results for 2024. We, however, ended the year on a strong note, engaging with many more clients in Q4 than the previous two years, and January has seen more hires and engagements than ever. Is this a sign that the hiring market is loosening a bit - we can certainly hope. Time will tell if reality matches sentiment, but so far we have reason to be hopeful for a robust 2024 hiring market.
