CLIENT SUMMARY

Well-known throughout the PNW, our client is a large, privately-held retailer with locations across multiple states. For over 30 years, this customer-centric company has set the standard for their market, and they continue to innovate and channel the hard-working, entrepreneurial spirit from day one that has helped them become America’s largest retailer in their space.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Corporate Controller will be fully responsible for providing leadership of the accounting team and management of all accounting functions for the company (both lines of business). Reporting directly to the CFO, and a peer of the Director of FP&A, this role will oversee financial reporting, shared services, internal controls, some FP&A functions, indirect tax and financial stakeholder relationships.
 
The focus of the position will be both operational and controls-based, assisting all levels of executive management in the daily operations of the company and assuring appropriate processes and controls are developed, implemented, and maintained. Specific points of interest are inventory control, state and local taxes, processes, and controls around accounting operations, and maintaining relationships with governmental authorities. 

QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY

​REQUIRED
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with an active CPA license
  • Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience in a multi-location, multi-state environment
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Controller (Corporate or Divisional at a large company), Corporate Assistant Controller or large-location Plant Controller.
  • Strong proficiency with financial close and reporting process ownership and internal control creation and oversight
  • Hands-on operations experience (not an ‘upstairs leader’)
  • Inventory management and COGS reporting
​PREFERRED
  • Tenured experience in retail, manufacturing, or consumer goods industries
  • E-commerce launch experience
  • A strong technical accountant
  • Strong payroll and state & local tax oversight experience
