CLIENT SUMMARYA rapidly growing non-profit with 30 years of experience addressing academic and other support needs of youth in the region, their services operate throughout Washington State and are continuing to expand their impact every year. A well-known and loved community-based organization, they are uniquely positioned to partner with stakeholders such as schools, social workers, organizations, and funders to achieve their mission.
POSITION SUMMARYThe Controller will lead all day-to-day accounting operations for this $20M+ organization, with a focus on managing all areas of operational and technical accounting, including monthly close and financial reporting, consolidations, tax accounting, and interpretation of GAAP accounting standards. There is a compliance aspect to this role with respect to both funding-based reporting requirements as well as external audit/tax process management and internal benefit/insurance administration. The Controller will manage a team of three direct reports, and is expected to be a passionate teacher and developer of these people as well as a steward of accounting to the entire organization.
QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARYIdeally, the Controller brings a career focused on progressive non-profit accounting at an organization with at least a budget of $5M; a background in corporate accounting with recent exposure to and passion for non-profit accounting is also acceptable. A deep knowledge of establishing and monitoring internal controls, accounting policies, and financial systems is required, along with audit and tax preparation experience. The Controller will show evidence of being an excellent written and oral communicator and a willing business partner building positive and effective cross-functional relationships.
