CLIENT SUMMARYOur client is a NW Portland-based designer, manufacturer, and distributor of a consumer product home good. With design and distribution based in their Portland HQ, they outsource manufacturing and distribute worldwide mainly through big-box stores and online retail. Their products are meticulously designed, high-quality, and the fruits of labor of a founder/owner with creative roots and an entrepreneurial spirit. The company is thriving today with 40+ employees and looking to continue international and domestic distribution reach while maintaining their family-oriented culture.
POSITION SUMMARYThe Controller will be the company’s first full-time lead Accounting/Finance person, taking over for a long-term interim Controller. This person will manage a team of two in AP and AR, will be hands-on in processing payroll and completing certain JE’s, and will own the close and financial reporting processes. Reporting to both the Owner and tenured GM, this will be a senior leadership team level position and will guide the company through their modest growth plans.
QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARYOur client is seeking a candidate with either a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Accounting/Finance and tenured experience running a small-midsized company’s GL accounting and financial reporting. Required also are experience managing accounting employees and overseeing AR/AP, processing payroll, and administering benefits. Experiences with a distribution business and maintaining certain levels of inventory are very nice to have. This person must have an even temperament, a desire to work in a family-oriented business, and a hands-on approach to leadership.
