CLIENT SUMMARYOur client is a newly founded private equity firm that invests in lower to middle market businesses. Founded by two partners with combined ~40 years of experience in the industry, the firm focuses on locating investment opportunities that allow them to partner with owners and management teams to proactively support them in generating value and accelerating profit. They focus on four areas of businesses: business services, financial services, industrial services, and consumer services. With strong Washington roots, their focus is mainly on the West Coast as they continue to grow their portfolio.
POSITION SUMMARYThis is the firm’s first back-office accounting & finance hire, and the Controller will initially work to move all accounting and finance functions from a third party to in-house. In addition to A&F, this person will oversee IT, HR, and many general administration functions of the business. Specifically, as Controller, responsibilities include oversight of all internal accounting and reporting for their investment portfolio, implementation of a firm budgeting process, leadership of overall strategic financial planning, and coordination with external audit and tax firms.
This position pays a base salary of $150-200k and offers medical, dental, vision, time off and retirement benefits. QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARYThe firm is seeking someone who has direct venture capital or private equity Controllership+ experience to bring insight and perspective to guiding their growing business. This means generally someone will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, at least around 8 years of experience, and direct accounting and finance experience working with fund administration or management and investment accounting across a multitude of acceptable investment types. This person must desire to work in a hands-on capacity at a startup fund and be passionate about growing the company as their number one accounting & finance person.
