Serena has over 15 years in the finance industry. She began her career as an assistant accountant in Singapore, excelling in her roles to become a senior accountant and then a finance manager. Throughout her career, she worked closely with controllers and executives within the organizations. Having spent many years residing in different countries, she developed a profound appreciation for adaptability and problem solving. Living abroad inherently presented a myriad of challenges, from language barriers to cultural differences and logistical hurdles. This experience has refined her ability to navigate unfamiliar environments and solve complex issues efficiently.

Throughout her career, she has not only lived in various countries and worked across diverse industries but has also assumed the role of an accounting department leader. This leadership position uniquely positioned her to solve problems not only from a traditional accounting perspective but also from a holistic business operations viewpoint. Her experiences span retail, wholesale, project-based jobs, manufacturing, and international trade, offering her a comprehensive understanding of various sectors. Each industry has its unique challenges, and her journey has seen her excel in these diverse environments. She has adopted a strategic approach that aligns financial goals with overarching business objectives, streamlining financial processes to optimize efficiency and foster growth. This dual perspective, combining financial acumen with operational insight, has been instrumental in addressing multifaceted challenges and driving positive outcomes that impact the entire organization, making her a versatile and dynamic problem solver.

Currently, Serena is working as a part-time accounting professional while pursuing her MBA at Washington State University. She holds a degree in applied accounting, is a Chartered Accountant – Singapore, and a member of ACCA.
