Joey is a Texas native, born and raised in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. He began his accounting career in 2007 after graduating from The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, and Information Management. He began working for Exco Resources in Dallas, Texas as a Property Accountant. He received his CPA certification in 2011, and this propelled his career in accounting. Joey progressed from a staff-level Accountant to a Senior Accountant and eventually into management and leadership positions.
 
Joey furthered his finance career in the oil and gas industry working for larger publicly traded companies Exco Resources and Magnum Hunter Resources that abided by SEC and SOX regulations. He gained most of his knowledge and skills within these larger companies, learning each aspect of full-cycle accounting. In 2015, Joey went to work for a small family-owned company, Halff Energy, where he led a small accounting team and managed multiple sets of books for mineral interest owners and managed the daily office functions. After nearly two years at Halff, he took his experience to the next level and accepted a Controller position with Maguire Oil Company where he managed all of their accounting and worked closely with their banks and audit firms to ensure the company was always in a solid position to grow.
 
More recently in 2022, Joey decided to take another step in his career to work for a firm that managed multiple clients and oversaw many different accounting functions for private clients in the energy industry. This is where his journey began as a consultant. He leveraged the experience he gained from his role as a Controller and was able to successfully oversee a department that managed more than 120 different private clients. Joey enjoyed collaborating with different clients as it gave him satisfaction to know that each client was satisfied with his work.
 
In his free time, Joey enjoys the outdoors, including hiking, swimming and barbequing. He loves spending time with his family, especially traveling together on cross-country road trips every summer. He is active in his local church, as serving others is most important to his family. Joey treats each person he engages with utmost respect and values integrity and honesty.
