What are we hearing from candidates? "Hello?...Thanks for the call!" Historically in recruiting, calls to individuals we had not previously contacted would typically go straight to voicemail, with responses being a rarity. However, we are now witnessing an unexpected shift: people are increasingly answering calls from unfamiliar numbers and engaging in conversations! One possible explanation for the trend reversal is the overreliance on messaging apps and emails over the last decade, leading to a feeling of message fatigue. Consequently, receiving a phone call has become an uncommon and welcome experience. It seems people want to talk live to other people instead of being the target of high volumes of impersonal mass messages. Whatever the underlying cause, this development is indeed refreshing. Thanks for the call! What are we hearing from clients? "I'm open to feedback." Recently, many of our clients have been focused on filling critical roles within their organizations, often with stringent candidate requirements, making these searches particularly challenging. However, we have observed a positive trend: clients are increasingly receptive to our market feedback the and are willing to adjust their criteria to secure highest quality candidates available with the optimal blend of skills. This shift appears to be driven by the recognition that the talent pool is limited, and prioritizing the acquisition of a strong candidate is more advantageous than holding out for an ideal match. What am I feeling about the market? "Un……phased" Did you see what I did there? You probably thought you were going to see the other U-word that is used in every other sentence lately - uncertain. Sure, there is a great deal of uncertainty in global markets, especially after Liberation Day, but we remain unphased in the world of accounting/finance hiring in this region. Hiring in March surprised as it beat estimates and the truth is that every company needs accountants, they're still in high demand and there's still a decent amount of churn in the market. When you layer in the need for strong Controllers and FP&A professionals to help guide companies' decision-making in the coming months/years, we feel unphased in the midst of larger uncertainty.
