What are we hearing from candidates?
"I want a change but am waiting for the right opportunity."
With the uncertain economic outlook, many candidates are being more conservative in making a job change. Even if they aren’t happy with their current role, they would rather stay with their known position and company versus make a change unless they are certain about the change being the right opportunity that will be different and better than their current employment situation. Candidates seem to be more particular and would rather stay with a known quantity.  

What are we hearing from clients?
"We are still in a wait and see mode."
The uncertainty stemming from policy shifts is causing employers to think twice before expanding headcount. Most businesses seem to be in a wait and see mode and have limited hiring. The vast majority of the current positions we are recruiting for are replacements of employees who have left versus new positions due to growth and expansion.  

What am I feeling about the market?
"Steady"
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported the U.S. added 177,000 jobs in April and unemployment remained unchanged at 4.2%. The job additions in April were slightly below March’s revised job adds of 185,000. The majority of the job gains were in healthcare and transportation and warehousing while federal government jobs declined. Despite the back-and-forth on tariffs, the economy stands resilient as April produced another solid month of employment gains beating expectations.
